Understanding Government Funding
You may be able to reduce your childcare costs through government funding schemes. These depend on your child’s age and your personal circumstances.
At Little Owls, we aim to make funding as simple and consistent as possible.
How Funding Works at Little Owls
We provide funded childcare on a stretched basis across the full year (51 weeks). This means:
Your funded hours are spread evenly across the year
You receive a consistent number of hours each week
Your child benefits from routine and continuity
We do not offer term-time-only (38-week) funding as a standard option.
The only exception to this is if your child attends another setting (such as a school nursery). In this case:
You may choose to use funding on a term-time-only basis
You will need to confirm this in writing
Full fees will apply during non-funded weeks to secure your child’s place
If you’re unsure what applies to you, we’re happy to talk it through.
Funding Options Available
Working Family Funding (From 9 Months)
Eligible working parents can receive funded childcare from the term after their child turns 9 months old. This can provide up to 1140 hours per year, equivalent to around 22 hours per week (stretched over 51 weeks). Any additional hours outside your funded allowance are charged at our standard rates.
Funding for 2-Year-Olds
Some families may be eligible for funded childcare for 2-year-olds, depending on income or benefits.
